Legend has it that Tobago was the mythical Robinson Crusoe island and it is easy to see why. It is a beautiful location, with the rich tropical rainforests in the northern hills a stark contrast to flat lowlands in the south where many tourists gather to enjoy ideal sailing conditions throughout the year.
Tobago is often referred to as the 'little sister' of Trinidad and for many years the fun-loving Trinidadians used it as their holiday playground. The beautiful Mount Irvine Hotel with its towering palm trees was once the major golf resort in the Caribbean but it has lost some of its former glitter in recent years and the spectacular new Tobago Plantations Resort will eventually supercede it as the island's major hotel and golf destination.
